Northumberland YFC – Cobourg, ON.
Please pray for the youth that we see at the Silverworks and in the schools, that they would see the full expression of God’s love and claim it for themselves. We give thanks for our volunteers. In March, a number of the volunteers and youth represented YFC at the combined Good Friday service at the Best Western. Early in April about 45 youth from Roseneath, Norwood and Campbellford came together for our Multi-Ball event. Included were games of Dodge Ball, Ball Hockey and a Monster Ball Obstacle Course. It was exciting to see so many of our volunteers, and student leaders involved with people of St. James Anglican Church of Roseneath, a few people from Brighton and the Youth Pastor from the Church on the Hill, Cobourg. It was a good event and a great venue. We continue working weekly at the Silverworks with Grade 6-8 students on Tuesday evenings and with the High School youth (15 regulars) on Wednesday evenings. On Thursdays I am in one of the local high schools. June 8th is the 20th annual “Volleyball on the Beach” Tournament. Two speakers from UCB 90.7 will speak at the Tournament. In July we are planning to run a week long Art’s Day Camp at the Silverworks for youth in grades 5-8.

New Tribes Mission – Dakar, Senegal, West Africa
We had a great conference March 2 - 6. The speaker's theme was 'Passion for God'. We also had a good children's program. A couple with their children and a young lady from Canada led it. They stayed on for a visit and we enjoyed showing them a bit of Dakar. Angie Kaeselau, a new missionary, stayed with us, then moved to the guest house while we had the 2 boys of the Cordeiros- our Brazilian co-workers. In May we got Angie set up in her own apartment. Our 4 missionaries have classes in French for 4 hours each weekday afternoon and Saturday morning. Our helper, Sintia is amazingly good. Muriel has a lot of responsibilities - at the conference with logistics and food,-setting up apartments, taking care of appointments etc. for the missionaries and for the mission - emails, letters etc. Our 6 months home assignment begins in July. Jenna-Mae finished school May 30 and Anna-Lee June 4. We are considering homeschooling while in Canada with material from the school here to help them adjust back into the system here. Anna-Lee needs to have her eyes checked again - as well as the rest of us. The church we attend here has a heart for evangelism and church planting. They have planted a church in a village outside the city - There now are 2 churches established in that area and doing evangelism in another village. The elders from our church asked me to go with them to start a teaching program to establish the new believers in their faith. There has been some opposition from a major religion. They are committed to prayer and are aware of the spiritual battle they will face. Pray for this work - Thank you. We look forward to seeing you this summer.
Greater Europe Mission, Cologne, Germany
Our pastor’s atelier (artist’s studio) is up and running. Almost every day I meet new people. Here is what I hope will happen – inter-religious and inter-cultural dialogue, sack lunch discussion groups, prayer meetings, mini-concerts, foundations of faith courses, networking with other area artists, etc. Our grand opening was Feb. 16. We had invited neighbours, shop keepers, fellow GEMers, church family and local Christian leaders. We feel the church is poised for growth. Besides our worship service and brunch we will offer a monthly prayer service at the atelier. We are planning a weekend retreat in April with the goal of deepening our relationships to one another and the Lord. We had a wonderful time with our kids here for the holidays. They are doing well but face the challenges of making ends meet, paying school loans, etc. Roy needs new hearing aids. Sam and Heidi are considering going to New York. Sam to attend a sound design/DJ school and Heidi to get an internship with a fashion designer – Pray. Gratefully, Jason and Sue.
Victoria B.C. and Lagos, Nigeria
In April Ambrose Massaquoi, the Principal of the Africa Centre for Theological Studies (ACTS) and I met with key Christian leaders in Hollywood to share the vision for the creation of a centre for Film arts at our school in Lagos. Since Ambrose joined the ACTS team in 2003, together we have been seeking God and dreaming about how to leverage Nollywood to impact African society. When ACTS became part of the International Leadership University of Africa (ILU) the vision for starting a Centre came into focus. This centre will seek to train Nollywood leaders in their craft as well as disciple and challenge them with seeing film making as a calling to influence society for good, not evil. The response was encouraging. Numerous Christian film industry leaders pledged to support us through volunteering time and resources. The next step is to design the program where they will come and teach seminars in Lagos. John will be in Nairobi Kenya for ILU meetings Sept. 9 - 13 and then in Lagos, Nigeria until the end of the month. Pray for Wendy and the kids while he is away. Wendy is planning a Mother/Daughter trip to Nigeria in early 2013. Pray God would raise up the right people and work out the details of the trip. Pray for the funding of our ministry and that God would provide new partners so we can reach our funding goals.
New Tribes Mission - Venezuela
During the 1st week of December our team put the finishing touches on the epistles of John and James. A small group of Macos from the jungle, a Bible translation consultant and the two translators on our team (Phyllis and Bruce) came and completed the evaluation of the New Testament in Maco. Our Tribal Bible New Year resolutions are: develop a concordance; proof read the entire N.T. manuscript to regularize terminology; check the spelling and make sure every reference is in its proper place; find a commercial printer to produce copies at a reasonable price; begin the process of raising funds to help cover the cost of printing and shipping; start planning a special ceremony in which the Macos will be officially presented with copies of the Maco New Testament; translate more of the Old Testament; and develop Bible lessons for the Maco church.
God gives peace, despite... Philippians 4:7 -- We mentioned in our last newsletter that we have been facing a number of challenges. We recognized that the mounting pressure of work and ministry required some changes and that Barb needed to step back from her involvement in a few different things. She did successfully decrease her work load and passed off her responsibilities of MCF child sponsorship to a volunteer who was willing to help with that part of the ministry. She has been lending a hand as needed from time to time but her involvement with MCF has been drastically reduced. She was also able to stop her weekly involvement. in youth ministry at out local church, to spend more time at home with the kids, though Glen continues to work with the youth each Friday night.
This has been good, but
Barb did end up running the annual fundraising auction for SV Sportz (which is part of the ministry of Scripture Union where she works 4-hours pet day, Mon-Fri). She enjoyed the challenge but it was very involved and she has been very busy playing catch up with her regular work ever since.
Barb also agreed to be involved in a Youth Sports Missions Outreach that our local church is doing this summer that is being run in conjunction with SV Sportz. She has already invested a lot of time and energy in this, even though the camp does not actually run until August. It's been exciting as she and some other leaders and the youth have started dropping flyers off in neighbourhood mail boxes. We're trusting that this will meet a real need for the community and that it will be an opportunity for some boys and girls to hear about Christ for the first time in their lives. These are all good things, but I've been trying to get Barb to learn how to say, 'No'.
Glen has continued to battle through some very difficult things at MCF since we last wrote. Just around the time we were writing our last letter to you, one of his staff members resigned putting some extra pressure on him and his administrative assistant.
For more than 6 months Glen has really been struggling about his ministry with MCF and the resignation of this staff member only accentuated that. Was this a time of testing where patience, perseverance and endurance were required? We have had several meetings with our pastor to discuss this, have sought other Godly counsel and have really prayed. Finally we came to the decision that due to significant philosophical differences, which we could not get beyond Glen had to resign from his position with MCF as well.
Since his resignation some Board members have also resigned. We all maintain that this ministry has great potential and is really making a difference in the lives of hundreds of children but q number of things need to change. Despite how difficult it will be for the ministry to lose both staff and board members, this may be exactly what is needed for it to move forward effectively. Sure it's been hard as we anticipated being involved in this ministry for years, but God has given us a real peace about this decision.
June 10th will be Glen's last day working with MCF.
We have been looking at other ministry possibilities for a couple of months and recruiting a few close friends to really be praying that God would open or close doors as He saw fit. Though we were excited at one possibility we were looking into, God has chosen to close the door to that opportunity.
We are unsure where God wants us next. At times we feel confused but we recognize that God is not a God of confusion. I was reminded about that lately. And sometimes He just wants us to be still and know that He is GOD... and so we wait.
Our hearts desire is to continue in ministry and we wanted a smooth transition from our work with MCF to some new work but that doesn’t seem to be God's plan. We do believe that God will ask us to be in full time ministry again but we're just not sure when that will be.
During this time of uncertainty God is giving us peace. Though we should probably be worried about what we’re doing next (From a human perspective) we're not because we are confident that God has q plan and we are choosing to trust Him. Nevertheless we ask that you surround us in prayer during this time. We have coveted your prayers all through our ministry and we have felt them and definitely need them now. We want to thank you all for standing behind us not only prayerfully but also financially. Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for staying close to us and our ministry. 1 Chronicles 28:9-10 (NIV)
Thomas is finishing up Grade 6. It is hard to believe that he will be starting Grade 7 in the fall. As of the end of June he will be considered Junior High at our church and can join the Youth Group. He couldn't have a better group to join. He is starting football this week and will be doing that 3 times a week until the middle of July. God has given him incredible abilities for sports.
Rehema is finishing up Grade 5. She will be glad that Thomas and her will be in different halls in school next year. It will give her a little more independence. Rehema just finished with a musical at our church. She was not only part of the choir but was able to be part of the drama team this year. She has really enjoyed doing that and mentioned that she can't believe it is over (after 6 months of preparation). She really enjoys drama and singing. God has given her amazing gifts for the arts.
Housekeeping ~ For those of you who are supporting us financially, please contact the MCF office (see bottom of this page) to let them know if you would like to continue your donation. Certainly MCF would appreciate any ongoing gifts towards the administration fund but recognize that many of you are only supporting the organization due to out involvement. They will continue to accept donations towards out support up to June 30th, 2011. If you no longer wish to be on the MCF mailing list you will also need to let the office know either by mail, telephone or email (info@mcfcforg)

Wycliffe Bible Translators, Nairobi, Kenya
It has been a big challenge to raise up more African missionaries to translate the scripture. There have been several inquiries about Bible translation but it is a challenge to leave well paid jobs and rely on prayer, and God to supply financial support. The churches in Africa have not included Bible translation in their program. Individual Christians are slowly beginning to support those going to the mission field. I continue to work on partnership development with Wycliffe Togo, Wycliffe Benin and Wycliffe Africa. The current missionaries in Wycliffe Africa are 14 in Ethiopia, 1 in Uganda, 2 in Madagascar, 4 in Nigeria and 6 in Kenya. Praise God for His faithfulness despite the challenges - for good health - for translation of the scriptures in several languages. Praise God for improved health for our special son, Kilimo, and for the arrival of our first grandson in North Carolina. I was involved in the complete translation and dedication of the Bible in SABAOT language in Kenya in June 2012. 2-3000 people attended. We would like to express our appreciation for your love, kindness and participation in the work of Bible translation. We have seen God's hand in our lives as a family and in the work of Wycliffe Africa.
Bibles and Literature in French – Lachute, Quebec
BLF International asked me to go to Haiti with $10,000 worth of pastoral books for which the funds were nearly raised. My heart was excited and joyful – but our commissioning church recommended that Linda and I concentrate on support raising to cover our 15% shortfall and cancel all international trips. So Linda and I humbly agreed although we did not understand what God was doing. Then at a regional prayer meeting of 6 small churches in the Lachute area I reported on the packs of books for pastors in Haiti, but that I could not go. When I asked who would like to go to Haiti instead of me, 5 people raised their hands. Since then the 5 have had 8 months of intense preparation of training, coaching and mentoring and have been blessed with an additional $10,000 to cover travelling costs. One of the BLF partners in Quebec is sending 71 missionaries to Haiti. The class of 5 has become 25 taking theological classes.
Operation World reports that large numbers of converts in the Central African Republic needed discipling. So BLF planned to send a team with resources to a pastor’s conference in April 2013. However, rebellion broke out again and missionaries and the United Nations have left, so BLF cancelled the project.
Mission Aviation Fellowship of Canada – Belem Brazil
On Feb. 8, 1993 Jane (in memoriam), David, Thomas and I started our missionary journey with M.A.F. to Brazil. Without your support it would not have been possible to continue this aviation ministry. We strongly believe that using the airplane is a tool ordained by God to spread the good news of Jesus Christ. Nov. 16 was a joyous time at David and Melissa's wedding in Anapolis, Brazil. They had met at church as kids and kept up their friendship through e-mail, Skype and face book. They will be living in Brazil, for now. Thomas and Dan's sister and her son were able to come from Canada. Pray for Dan and other national pilots who are working on getting the new Aviation Program registered and established here in Belem.
Global Outreach Mission – Chateauguay, Quebec
Pray for the Quebec Radio Ministry. The technical means of producing the radio program has had a major update this past year. Gospel radio takes the message of salvation to “who so ever” is listening in a generation that denies truth and has no fear of God. Thank you for your participation and partnership with us. Pray for Pearl as she deals with an open wound above her right ankle. The surgeon lanced her leg a year ago – then it flared up a month ago, and has a special dressing. She is in constant pain. I (Clarence) was in the hospital 5 days with a pulmonary infection and am thankful for the medication that controls the problem.

Rick works for a Language Software Development department that Wycliffe members use to help translate the scriptures into new languages. More than 200 translation teams use Fieldworks Language Explorer as a software tool to search through notes quickly. 19 New Testaments were completed in 2012. But there are yet 2040 languages that need to be translated. I (Lori) assist the work of Bible translation by meeting the graphic art and design needed. I also prepared the advertising pieces for Urbana 2013. Thousands of committed college age students attended this missionfest. Over 100 students connected with the Graphic Institute of Applied Linguistics to pursue Bible Translation. Family: Our daughter Rebekah, her husband David and Acacia (2) and Jude (3½) from Vancouver Is., BC were with us for Christmas. They are expecting their third baby in March. Please pray that we will love the Lord, stay physically and mentally strong, and continue to grow in faith and love. Our family is privileged to have your prayer and financial support.
Wycliffe Bible Translators - Ukarumpa – Papua New Guinea
Greetings from the village of Akwanja. Here we had a workshop to which we had sent invitations. Only 8 came the first day – but for the rest of the week at least 14. We learned a lot about the meaning of some important terms in Menya and/or English. The manuals for the Scripture Application and Leadership Training (SALT) went to the printer. Invitations were sent to 20 congregations encouraging them to appoint 2 or 3 delegates to the course May 6 – 10 which was to be held in the Akwanja congregation building by a teaching team of 4 from Ukarumpa. Pray that the persistent rain will hold off so that we will have enough solar power to print 20 copies of the New Testament in Menya (all but Hebrews, 2 John, and Jude) so that each congregation can have a copy. I (Carl) have been working with Jay and Patiqu on checking the last 2 chapters of Romans. Pray for Pat and me that the last 2011-2013 Executive Committee session will go well (June 3 – 14) including handing over the responsibilities to the 2013-2015 committee. We also have to remove all our belongings from our house into storage in a friend’s house. The Mission branch is relocating 7 families to another area in Ukarumpa to improve security. Pray that Korin and 3 friends from his graduating class will arrive safely May 27 and have a good 23 day visit with family and friends. We leave June 21, and go to Port Moresby, Australia, Switzerland and England then arrive in Calgary July 14. Thank you for being part of the Bible translation and church growth encouragement team in PNG.
