World Team Canada – serving in the Ukraine, Russia, Belarus and Campbellford, ON
From Campbellford: The full amount of needed funds came in for the 2 month trip – we flew from Toronto Aug. 17 to western Ukraine and fly back on Oct. 17. Our itinerary in brief Module 9 – Marriage in L'Viv, Ukraine followed by the workshop 'Sharpening the Ax' for the 6th day (which is advance training) Module 8 Depression in Minsk, Belarus (Russia) followed by the 'Ax', Module 6 Fear in Krasnodar (Russia) followed by the 'Ax'. Ron then conducts the first of 2 master courses at KECU (Kuban Evangelical Christian University) to Russian leaders in Biblical counselling for 1 week. Then we travel to Moscow for module 1. We also will celebrate 2 graduation groups in Kyiv and Krasnodar – We had to postpone our visit to Germany for a later date. In each group there are graduates who join our team to help teach and learn how to oversee the 5 year format program. The students support us financially while we are on the field. This is particularly heavy at this hard economic time. If you desire to help send funds earmarked "Harris Fall Trip". We love our home location surrounded by wild life. Please pray for its protection while we are away. Ron will be teaching a course "Deep Change for Hurting People" Oct. 25 – Nov. 29 in Kingston. Our son Adam and wife Joy who are with Spirit Borne in Belleville are very busy but like to come and visit us. Our daughter Angela returned to Cambodia with World Team. July 6. We thank you all so much and Praise God!
Northumberland YFC – Cobourg, ON.
With the completion of renovations at the Silverworks Youth Centre we held our Open House and re-dedication ceremony on Nov. 11. Over 100 people came to celebrate. Two of the local clergy participated in the ceremony along with 3 youth and a couple of board members. We celebrated 13 years of ministry. Thank you, to those who had a part in the renovations, whether you physically did the work or supported financially or prayerfully. In December 6 guys joined The Gathering group that meets at one of the local High Schools on Thursdays at lunch time - 15 to 17 youth in all show up. They have decided to discuss passages of scripture that are important to them. A total of 6 student leaders meet for an hour before the Tuesday night drop-in at the Silverworks. We eat pizza, discuss a portion of scripture and how we might apply it to our lives. These young people are seeking to live out their faith in their school and among their peers. We have had as many as 25 come for the evening. God is at work in answer to your prayers. Please keep praying: that they would hear, see and believe the Truth; for the Volunteers that God would grant them wisdom and grace as they give of themselves for the youth; for me as I balance the work of direct ministry with the demands of being the interim Executive Director. It has been a tough year financially - almost $7,500 behind in my wages (2011) and have fallen short for the past 5 years. Please pray for me in this ministry. May God richly bless you in the days ahead.
Greater Europe Mission, Cologne, Germany
In the past few weeks I preached in the 2 churches we planted. Bergisch Gladbach has not been able to afford a pastor, but the members have pulled together and are committed to the church in a new way. Some have stepped into leadership roles. The church in Cologne - Porz is gearing up for their 20th Anniversary May 2013. The man who led a recent service is a miracle. He was far from God and an unfaithful husband - but he came to faith in God and is now a shining witness to God's grace. During the Karneval weekend I was able to talk with several friends of friends about the gospel, and gave out all the church contact cards I had in my wallet. Our last big event in March was a Hootenanny - a sing-along to broaden our network. We need to replace our 10 yr. old Honda Fit. Our car mechanic says it is not worth fixing. We have been saving for this but need to raise at least $16,000 or its equivalent. Our ministry is dependent on having a reliable car.
New Tribes Mission – Dakar, Senegal, West Africa
We started our language centre classes in the apartment our church uses, on Oct. 31, 2011 - a 5 hour session - with 3 students who wanted to start at the beginning and advanced course for 5 couples and a single man who have a background in French. We have a trained helper, a student here - who is a young Christian lady from Gabon. All is going well. Pray for us as we try to keep all this organized and prepare for our daily sessions. Muriel has been busy helping folks settle in and making sure they have all they need and that the children are taken care of. The girls are doing well at school overall. Anna-Lee is adjusting to the routine of middle school and having classes in different locations. Jan. 22nd. I had the privilege of speaking to our church - a challenge to my French. We have been helping Matar, a man who lives outside of Dakar but every so often comes to our church looking for help. His religious background believes in sacrificing animals and fasting in order to be accepted by God. I talked with him about his need of salvation and gave him a Bible and some literature. Now he says it is only by the grace of God and what the Lord has done for him that he can be accepted by God. Pray for him that his understanding would grow. Thanks for your commitment to prayer. We appreciate all you do in this regard.
New Tribes Mission - Venezuela
This is a glimpse of what 2011 was like for us. We arrived in S. Florida in time for Christmas 2010 - and hit the ground running with church meetings through January and February. In March we were visiting friends and churches in Alabama, Texas, Missouri, Illinois, Michigan, then Canada.
In April we were on Canadian highways in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia - then back to Ontario, New Jersey and New York sharing about the Macos, at churches and with friends.
May - the meetings were in Ontario and making an appearance on the Christian TV program 100 Huntley Street. June - we were on the West Coast - in California, Oregon, Washington and Idaho - celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary in Nevada - then back to Chicago and Missouri. July - In Tennessee - speaking in churches and heading south to Alabama and central Florida. Aug. - Sept. - finishing our speaking schedule and preparing to leave - flying back to Venezuela and contacting leaders of the Wheatfield Church in Valencia who have committed to partner with us in ministering to the Macos. November - We finally got an apartment in Valencia and moved in.
December - the Maco team and leadership of Wheatfield Church and we begin planning how best to move the ministry forward. Pray that the Lord continues to guide and make clear the role of each. We thank you for your prayers, encouragement, your financial support, and your part in establishing a church among the Macos and giving them God's Word in their own language.
Victoria B.C. and Lagos, Nigeria
The 1st week of Dec. I, (John) was in Nairobi, Kenya with Ambrose, Principal of ACTS (Africa Centre for Theological Studies) to attend Outback. This organization conducts weekend parent/teen retreats in the USA and felt led to help Christian parent and teen retreats in other parts of the world. Ambrose and his son and I attended this Outback in Kenya to learn about it and see if it would be suitable for Nigeria. Christian leaders from other African countries were present. As I did not have a son with me the rep. from Tanzania who had brought his 3 sons let me adopt one of his for the weekend. We slept in tents and in spite of a torrential downpour woke up dry in the morning. Ambrose and I feel the Outback strategy will be very effective in Lagos and look forward to mobilizing our students at ACTS. A supporter of ACTS has donated 1/3 of a downtown building in Lagos - about 12,000 square feet on the 3rd floor to create an Annex where we can offer our leadership development programs - seminary and courses for city leaders. Please pray as renovations begin that God will provide funding. Pray also that a plumber and electrician might be willing to come with me to Nigeria in Feb. and help oversee the renovation work. We also have a permanent campus on the outskirts of the city, Lagos. While in Nairobi, Ambrose and I met with officials of our sister school NIST (Nairobi International School of Theology) It is registered as a University. Our schools in Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Congo and Ghana will become satellite campuses. Pray for the Launch of the graduate program in Aug. 2012. After 4 1/2 yrs. the adoption papers were signed for our 3 girls Shianne, Brianna and Jessilyn and we celebrated Happy Adoption Day. Thank the Lord for the successful fundraiser to publish Wendy's book about Josiah's adoption. Pray for the ACTS students, that they apply what they are learning and make a difference in Africa. Pray for the funding of our ministry. God bless you throughout 2012.
Wycliffe Bible Translators, Nairobi, Kenya
Greetings to the Church family at FBC, Cobourg. We do appreciate your love, friendship, prayers, support, encouragement and kindness. Report for Aug to Dec. 2011
We have had sharing and discussions with 3 churches. The Entebbe Pentecostal Church in Uganda, The good News Mission Church in Kenya and the Karen Community Church in Kenya. The churches agreed to do the following for the missionaries commissioned by them: Pastoral Care, Prayer Support, Financial Support, Hospitality and Visitation and involve the missionaries in the Church's missions whenever possible. We witnessed the dedication of the book of St. Luke in Samburu language. A missionary couple are working in an area 700 km. from Addis Ababa where cluster languages are supported by the government and SIL. Many people have come to know the Lord and several churches have been established in the area. We had a partnership development workshop in Dares Salaam, Tanzania on how to raise up and encourage Africans to join the mission field, get the church and individual Christians involved in Bible translation as per the Great Commission. Areas of Challenge for Prayer 1. Financial support for the Missionaries 2. To educate and involve the congregation in Bible Translation to fully support by prayer, pastoral care etc. 3. To select and recruit more missionaries and build partnership before coming to the field. Family Our son Kilimo, who was shot last year has been declared well. he has been given special shoes to reduce pressure where the bones had been removed. He misses his hobby of running. He would have represented Kenya in June at the Special Olympics in Athens, Greece. My sister-in-law, Cecilia, is on dialysis and needs a kidney donor. May the Lord Bless you.
God gives peace, despite... Philippians 4:7 -- We mentioned in our last newsletter that we have been facing a number of challenges. We recognized that the mounting pressure of work and ministry required some changes and that Barb needed to step back from her involvement in a few different things. She did successfully decrease her work load and passed off her responsibilities of MCF child sponsorship to a volunteer who was willing to help with that part of the ministry. She has been lending a hand as needed from time to time but her involvement with MCF has been drastically reduced. She was also able to stop her weekly involvement. in youth ministry at out local church, to spend more time at home with the kids, though Glen continues to work with the youth each Friday night.
This has been good, but
Barb did end up running the annual fundraising auction for SV Sportz (which is part of the ministry of Scripture Union where she works 4-hours pet day, Mon-Fri). She enjoyed the challenge but it was very involved and she has been very busy playing catch up with her regular work ever since.
Barb also agreed to be involved in a Youth Sports Missions Outreach that our local church is doing this summer that is being run in conjunction with SV Sportz. She has already invested a lot of time and energy in this, even though the camp does not actually run until August. It's been exciting as she and some other leaders and the youth have started dropping flyers off in neighbourhood mail boxes. We're trusting that this will meet a real need for the community and that it will be an opportunity for some boys and girls to hear about Christ for the first time in their lives. These are all good things, but I've been trying to get Barb to learn how to say, 'No'.
Glen has continued to battle through some very difficult things at MCF since we last wrote. Just around the time we were writing our last letter to you, one of his staff members resigned putting some extra pressure on him and his administrative assistant.
For more than 6 months Glen has really been struggling about his ministry with MCF and the resignation of this staff member only accentuated that. Was this a time of testing where patience, perseverance and endurance were required? We have had several meetings with our pastor to discuss this, have sought other Godly counsel and have really prayed. Finally we came to the decision that due to significant philosophical differences, which we could not get beyond Glen had to resign from his position with MCF as well.
Since his resignation some Board members have also resigned. We all maintain that this ministry has great potential and is really making a difference in the lives of hundreds of children but q number of things need to change. Despite how difficult it will be for the ministry to lose both staff and board members, this may be exactly what is needed for it to move forward effectively. Sure it's been hard as we anticipated being involved in this ministry for years, but God has given us a real peace about this decision.
June 10th will be Glen's last day working with MCF.
We have been looking at other ministry possibilities for a couple of months and recruiting a few close friends to really be praying that God would open or close doors as He saw fit. Though we were excited at one possibility we were looking into, God has chosen to close the door to that opportunity.
We are unsure where God wants us next. At times we feel confused but we recognize that God is not a God of confusion. I was reminded about that lately. And sometimes He just wants us to be still and know that He is GOD... and so we wait.
Our hearts desire is to continue in ministry and we wanted a smooth transition from our work with MCF to some new work but that doesn’t seem to be God's plan. We do believe that God will ask us to be in full time ministry again but we're just not sure when that will be.
During this time of uncertainty God is giving us peace. Though we should probably be worried about what we’re doing next (From a human perspective) we're not because we are confident that God has q plan and we are choosing to trust Him. Nevertheless we ask that you surround us in prayer during this time. We have coveted your prayers all through our ministry and we have felt them and definitely need them now. We want to thank you all for standing behind us not only prayerfully but also financially. Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for staying close to us and our ministry. 1 Chronicles 28:9-10 (NIV)
Thomas is finishing up Grade 6. It is hard to believe that he will be starting Grade 7 in the fall. As of the end of June he will be considered Junior High at our church and can join the Youth Group. He couldn't have a better group to join. He is starting football this week and will be doing that 3 times a week until the middle of July. God has given him incredible abilities for sports.
Rehema is finishing up Grade 5. She will be glad that Thomas and her will be in different halls in school next year. It will give her a little more independence. Rehema just finished with a musical at our church. She was not only part of the choir but was able to be part of the drama team this year. She has really enjoyed doing that and mentioned that she can't believe it is over (after 6 months of preparation). She really enjoys drama and singing. God has given her amazing gifts for the arts.
Housekeeping ~ For those of you who are supporting us financially, please contact the MCF office (see bottom of this page) to let them know if you would like to continue your donation. Certainly MCF would appreciate any ongoing gifts towards the administration fund but recognize that many of you are only supporting the organization due to out involvement. They will continue to accept donations towards out support up to June 30th, 2011. If you no longer wish to be on the MCF mailing list you will also need to let the office know either by mail, telephone or email (info@mcfcforg)
Thank God for His continuing faithfulness and the peace that He provides (even in uncertain times)
Pray for continuing wisdom in setting reasonable boundaries allowing for some margin in our lives
Pray for wisdom, discernment and direction about employment for Glen and also his admin assistant Katy
Pray for MCF and the challenges it faces as it moves forward

Mission Aviation Fellowship of Canada – Belem Brazil
After much research, surveying, interviewing and help from the Canadian Director of Operations, the new aviation program in Belem is going ahead. Several missions and church agencies will get partial subsidy for flights enabling them to do a lot more than they are doing now. The aviation program will provide air services for the Amazon basin region where there are no roads, and to places that can only be reached by boat. It will assist church workers and missionaries as they minister to the spiritual needs of people, and work with government and non-government agencies to provide communities with health and education services. Mede vac flights can make the difference between life and death. Pray for Dan as he heads up this new aviation project and sets up administration, finances and partnerships. David (our eldest) got engage to Melissa, who just finished her bachelor degree in music. They plan to get married in November. David is working on Business Administration studies and also as a flight instructor. Thomas is in his second year of kinesiology at Waterloo and did a co-op at two places. Victor, Doug, and Andrew continue their studies at Amazon Valley Academy here in Belem. Please pray for the administration and necessary teachers for the school. Marcia is still in the process of registering as a physiotherapist. Thank you for your faithful prayers, loving encouragement and financial support which means so much to us and our ministry.
Bibles and Literature in French – Lachute, Quebec
For many French-speaking people, all that Jesus is to them is "the babe, the son of Mary" Our purpose in ministry is to present this "babe" as Christ the King. You, our supporters and prayer partners have had an important hand in this ministry. Thank you. Haiti Project Friends provided free shipping for 21 boxes containing 50,000 mini-bibles and 200 solar-powered radios donated by In Touch ministries with 35 evangelistic messages by Charles Stanley. FLB is still raising funds to send 80 pastoral library packs to Haiti with BLF mission team. Toe-Blake has been teaching a course in Pneumatologie to 10+ believers. It was a blessing to see them grow in wisdom of the scripture and understanding of the Holy Spirit – His ministry and gifts. It is our desire to make the course available by posting them on the web.
Request from Togo Toe-Blake delivered 60 leadership packs to Togo in 2010. He has just received an e-mail from a pastor asking for the next series on Mentoring. Pray that the resources will be provided. Dec. 10, our church hosted a Christmas Hope Supper. 47 were present including 11 unsaved friends. 4 people responded to the Gospel that was clearly presented. One was a lumberjack who had been helping Toe-Blake cut our winter fire wood. Our next Hope Supper is scheduled for Mar. 3. We covet your prayers for this. Family News Nathaniel moved back to Ottawa last January and is working the night shift at Tim Horton's. He is struggling spiritually. Sam is also in Ottawa working for Best Buy from his office at home. He serves in his local church. Jaël and her husband Zak's fourth child, a boy, Nickolis arrived June 18th. Laurel and Serge welcomed their second child Cédrick to the family July 18. Grandma Linda and Grandpa Toe-Blake and happy to have 6 grandchildren. Linda also works part time at a medical clinic and seeks to witness for the Lord. Pray for our support needs as we are at 83%.

Global Outreach Mission – Chateauguay, Quebec
I previously shared the urgent need for financial support as the Quebec radio account was in deficit. God answered prayer. Thanks for faithful gifts and a couple of substantial amounts provided by the Lord, we are able to continue the present network of 9 stations that air La Voix de L'Evangile. Pray for Pastor Michel Martel, our radio speaker for 26 years, as he prepares the messages to be recorded. Radio reaches people travelling in cars and listening to the local radio station, especially as our broadcast follows the news on the hour. It reaches people who are troubled, stressed, suffering or bored and discouraged. It is non-threatening as the evangelist gives a Bible centred message. However, the time is short and the days are evil. Pearl has much pain in her knees which is debilitating. The last cortisone shots were less effective - knee replacements are not an option. Pray for grace and strength. Continue to pray for our contacts in the residence where we live - New doors are opening. Thanks and may the Lord bless you!
Wycliffe Bible Translators – Duncanville, Texas
Rick will be in Chiang Mai, Thailand from April 29 to June 4. Their city is the hub for Bible Translation work in S.E. Asia. They have few personnel. Pray that Rick will be able to help and provide relief for the few computer workers there. Rick will be staying with our youngest son, John, who has been living with the Cochran family for his senior year at high school. We released Fieldworks with corrections and enhancements. Team members who are not in the same village or country need the means to collaborate and work together on the same data. We are working on a major feature to send and receive these changes. A translator in Togo-Benin who I helped, sent an email thanking me and asking prayer for God's wisdom and guidance. I (Lori) have been busy preparing materials for the Graduate Institute of Applied Linguistics. GIAL has added a new MA degree which is designed to equip those with artistic abilities with skills to serve overseas. Pray I will finish my goal of having a full set of Read'n Grow illustrations with dark skin tones ready for distribution.
Wycliffe Bible Translators - Ukarumpa – Papua New Guinea
Your support each quarter is very much appreciated as well as prayer support. You helped us subsidize the cost of Menya people attending the key terms workshop -repair to one of our two water tanks at Ukarumpa - replacement of our camera that "died" - emergency dental treatment and new eye glasses. I (Pat) had a good trip to Canada with Korin last Aug. - Sept. He took an Artist Blacksmith course in Haliburton, ON. When the course finished in Dec. he planned to move to B.C. and stay with Jason and Windsong (our oldest son and wife). Please continue to pray that Korin will follow the Lord's leading. Our church leaders' conference was Oct. 31 - Nov. 4. Of the 40 who said they were coming 10 showed up - plus 10 who did not register, came. They represented 11 congregations from 4 denominations. We are confident that the Lord sent the right people. We discussed a number of terms such as - disciple, apostle, prophet, priest, temple, sacrifice, angel, spirit, sin etc. - also how to encourage people to read and the possible adaption into 2 other dialects. We spent time helping some read Menya. The general consensus was to have these meetings 4 times a year. The next one is the second week of January. There was an ongoing land issue as several different groups claim the land our village house is on. Pray for God's will and harmony.
